Paper on the reuse of precast concrete at EC3 & CIB W78

Arlind presented a paper titled "Enabling reuse of prefabricated concrete components through multiple tracking technologies and digital twins" in Crete, July 2023, at the European Conference on Computing in Construction.

In this study, various tracking technologies for the reuse of concrete are explored. Additionally, a digital workflow is proposed to combine tags with the BIM model. Laboratory tests were conducted for different scenarios of attaching NFC to precast concrete, highlighting the potential of these alternatives to the most commonly used tags up to now, RFID tags. These technologies are already available in today´s smartphones (no need for additional equipment). They also can provide the link to Material Passports and the correspnding digital model/twin of real world objects.
